| Learn about the basic elements of a 3D model.
Ronny André Reierstads's Easy Baking Recipe.. How to do it step by step...

INSTRUCTIONS:

| A 3D model consists of several elements
vertex, edge and face and polygon.
The picture on the left is taken from the viewport layout in Studio Max.
|
| | |
| Vertex or point in 3D, is the smallest element.
In 3D a vertex is defined from 3 coordinates.
The variables X, Y and Z is often used.
|
| | |
| Edge is a segment consisting of two vertices.
|
| | |
| Face or triangle is consiting of 3 edges and 3 vertices.
|
| | |
| Polygon is consisting of 3 or more vertices.
|
| | |
| For now this is all you have to know about vertex, edge, face and polygon. I will not look into the mathematical definitions of these elements, since this tutorial is ment for beginners.
